Evidence first. Headcount pending.
Building trustworthy, evidence-first security and permission-aware AI tools for people, teams, and agents.
GoodBoy Data is a small software company. Its current corporate footprint is a logo, an inbox, several projects, and a surprisingly well-organized folder. We regard this as a strong start.
What we build
Software that checks before it acts, shows its work afterward, and behaves the same on a bad day as on a good one.
-
Security tools
Tools that treat permission as the first question rather than the last. They check what they are allowed to do, do exactly that, and leave a record a careful person could verify later.
-
Permission-aware AI
Assistants and agents that ask before they fetch, stay where they were put, and do not treat the word "no" as an invitation to try a different approach.
-
Evidence-first workflows
Systems that prefer a verifiable record to a confident tone. Confidence is cheap. We have plenty of it and still check.
House rules
Five principles, each short enough to remember under pressure.
- Ask first. Permission is a prerequisite, not a formality. If a tool cannot show that it was allowed to do something, it should not have done it.
- Keep the record. Work that matters should leave a trail a careful stranger could follow. Charm is not a substitute for documentation.
- Stay in bounds. A tool that wanders outside its scope is not showing initiative. It is a bug with initiative.
- Guard the boundary. The default answer to an unexpected request is a polite no. The default answer to an unexpected request from a machine is a slightly less polite no.
- Prefer good judgment. Clever workarounds are impressive for about a day. Good judgment ages better and is much easier to explain afterward.
Progress report
A candid inventory of corporate assets, maintained with the same rigor we intend to apply to everything else.

GoodBoy Data is the organizational home of EvilPedia, a project that is currently in development. It is not public yet, so there is nothing to link to, and this page will not pretend otherwise.
Milestones
- Formed GoodBoy Data, LLC. Liability: limited. Ambition: less so.
- Approved a logo. The dog has been described, in writing, as restrained.
- Published a website with no cookies, no analytics, and no JavaScript. It is faster than it needs to be, which is how we like our software.
- Resisted adding a chatbot to this page. It was not difficult.
Frequently clarified
- Is this a pet store?
- No. GoodBoy Data is a software company. The dog is a logo and has no further duties.
- Why the name?
- Because "good boy" is the highest praise available for doing exactly what you were asked and nothing else. That is also the design goal for our software.
- Do you sell data?
- No. This site collects nothing about you, which makes the question unusually easy. The privacy page has the rest of the details, and it is short.
- How big is the company?
- Large enough to have a logo, a privacy page, and opinions. Small enough that this page is also the org chart.
